NOW-NJ PAC Votes to Endorse Phil Murphy for Governor and Candidates for the New Jersey Legislature in the General Election
The NOW-NJ Political Action Committee (PAC) is pleased to announce its endorsement of Phil Murphy for governor in this year’s election. The PAC’s decision was based on his campaign and on his response to a detailed questionnaire, committing to issues benefitting women and their families.
We look forward to having a governor who will sign the progressive, pro-woman bills passed by our legislature. Murphy has committed to fund family planning services, promote wage equality, raise the minimum wage to $15, and create a tax credit to help with the cost of childcare. He supports legislation to enhance New Jersey’s family leave insurance program, guarantee paid sick leave, and protect working women from discrimination and harassment. He would reject bills which would disadvantage alimony recipients.
Murphy supports changing the legal system to promote justice for women and minorities. He would stop filling our jails with the minorities who are targeted in the war on marijuana usage. He would also ban shackling of pregnant prisoners during childbirth.
A Murphy administration will have women and minorities at all levels, including the cabinet. Employees and contractors will once again be monitored for adherence to affirmative action standards.
One crisis faced by New Jersey is global climate change. A Murphy administration would actively support programs to make the environment healthier for women and their families. It would also support programs to mitigate climate change and rising sea levels, which are such a huge risk to our shore communities.
We welcome Sheila Oliver to the role of lieutenant governor. We hope that Phil Murphy makes good use of her legislative experience.
Now is the time to stand strongly behind Phil Murphy and Sheila Oliver so that they can implement his promises to fiercely defend women, workers, and the underserved in the Garden State. Download Press Release Here
NOW-NJ PAC Votes to Endorse Candidates for the New Jersey Legislature in the General Election
The NOW-NJ Political Action Committee (PAC) is pleased to announce its endorsements in this year’s legislative election. The PAC’s decisions were based on responses to a detailed questionnaire, committing to issues benefitting women and their families. In some cases there was some follow-up where needed, as well as a review of the record of incumbents. Candidates who did not submit questionnaires were not considered this year. Endorsed candidates show full support for all NOW issues. The PAC may express support for a feminist candidate who is not quite perfect, but is clearly preferable to their opposition.
The NOW-NJ PAC announces full endorsement of the following candidates:
Pamela Lampitt for Assembly in the 6th district
George Youngkin for Senate in the 8th district
Joanne Schwartz for Assembly in the 8th district
