onebillion

Today, one of every three women on the planet will be raped or beaten in her lifetime. That is ONE BILLION mothers, daughters, sisters, partners, and friends. Yet most of the world remains silent and indifferent. The time has come to put a stop to the violence and to the silence that surrounds it. On February 14th, 2013, one billion women and those who love them will walk out, rise up, dance, and strike to demand an end to violence against women and girls. AND MORRIS COUNTY NOW will be there.

Join us on V-Day, Thursday, February 14, 2013, in front of Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen’s office in Morristown at 1:30 to 2:30 pm and demand that he co-sponsor and VOTE FOR the newly reintroduced Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

In 2012, the House Republicans, including Congressman Frelinghuysen, blocked VAWA, making it the first time the bill has not been renewed since 1994, because they balked at VAWA’s inclusions for Native Americans, immigrant women, and LGBTQ victims.

We can’t stand by and let this happen again.
The time for action is NOW!

When:        Thursday, February 14, 2013, 1:30 PM
Where:        30 Schuyler Place, Morristown, New Jersey  MAP
